Project scope The assignment is based within the client's engineering office, supporting fabrication activities for subsea structures - PLETs, PLEMs, and associated equipment - on the Greater PAJ Development project in Block 31, offshore Angola. The client's scope on this project includes the engineering, procurement, fabrication, and installation of subsea pipeline end structures as part of the wider SURF package.
The FabricationProjectEngineer covers the full fabrication follow-up cycle:
from engineering review and yard coordination through to documentation close-out, with field missions at fabrication yards and offshore as required by project phase. Role overview Purpose To support the client's project team in the engineering coordination, fabrication follow-up, and documentation management of subsea structures (PLETs, PLEMs, and associated equipment) on the Greater PAJ Development, ensuring fabrication quality, schedule compliance, and technical alignment throughout the project. Reporting line & team context You will report to the ProjectFabrication Manager and work in daily coordination with engineering, procurement, and construction teams, as well as fabrication yard representatives.
The role involves regular interface with multi-discipline stakeholders across the client's Paris region office and external fabrication yards. Success looks like
- Fabrication activities progressing on schedule, with issues identified and resolved proactively
- STQs from fabrication yards addressed accurately and on time
- Material availability and MTO tracked with no unplanned delays to fabrication
- NCRs, MOCs, and risk assessments managed and closed in a structured and timely manner
- Fabrication documentation accurate, complete, and delivered in line with contractual requirements Key responsibilities Fabrication follow-up & yard coordination
- Support fabrication activities for subsea structures including PLETs, PLEMs, and associated equipment
- Monitor fabrication progress and coordinate technical matters with fabrication yards
- Assess fabrication issues and evaluate their potential impact on project schedule
- Propose mitigation or recovery actions when required Engineering & technical review
- Review engineering drawings, fabrication procedures, and technical specifications
- Evaluate Site Technical Queries (STQs) raised by fabrication yards and propose technical solutions
- Track material availability, material take-off (MTO), and substitutions where required Quality, documentation & coordination
- Contribute to the management of non-conformities (NCR), Management of Change (MOC), and risk assessments
- Support planning, reporting, and fabrication documentation follow-up
- Ensure coordination with engineering, procurement, and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle
Profil recherché :
Education
- Engineering degree (Bac+4/5) in mechanical, structural, civil, or related discipline Experience Must-have:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in steel structures and piping fabrication within the Oil & Gas industry
- Sound understanding of fabrication processes and constructability considerations for subsea structures
- Experience addressing technical queries from fabrication yards and supporting problem resolution
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and project specifications Nice-to-have:
- Direct experience with PLETs, PLEMs, or similar subsea pipeline end structures
- Previous experience on deepwater EPCI projects in West Africa or comparable environments
- Familiarity with EPCI contractor project systems and documentation standards Technical skills
- Basic understanding of welding principles - WPS, PQR, welder qualifications, and NDT methods
- Knowledge of structural steel codes (AWS D1.1 or equivalent) and piping codes (ASME B31.3, DNV standards)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), and Navisworks
- Knowledge of Microsoft Project; Primavera an advantage Certifications
- Valid BOSIET (OPITO approved) - preferred
- MFC certification - preferred
- Seaman book - considered an advantage for offshore field missions Soft skills
- Practical and solution-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication within multidisciplinary and multicultural project teams
- Ability to work autonomously and take technical decisions when required
- Fluent English - mandatory
- French - recommended (working environment)
- Portuguese - considered an advantage given the Angola project context
