Job Summary

The Head of Direct materials Procurement of Global Purchasing will be responsible for defining and executing a worldwide purchasing and sourcing strategy for all our direct materials especially semiconductors, raw materials, components, and outsourcing services essential to our smartcard manufacturing.


This senior leader will lead and mentor a global team, driving strategic supplier partnerships, cost competitiveness, and supply chain resilience in a complex and high-tech manufacturing environment.


The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the smartcard ecosystem, exceptional negotiation skills, and a proven track record of delivering significant cost savings and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Define, develop, and execute a global sourcing strategy to enhance cost competitiveness, resilience, and growth across all business units.


• Establish and institutionalize a should-cost system to enable fact-based negotiations, margin improvement, and value engineering.


• Translate business objectives into a comprehensive, long-term procurement strategy that provides a sustainable competitive advantage.


• Lead and participate in high-stakes negotiations for high-value materials and components, and long-term supply agreements.

Supplier and Risk Management

• Develop and manage a global supplier base and mitigate risks by monitoring global trends.


• Manage and mitigate geo-political risks including tariffs


• Focus on localization


• Lead supplier innovation and oversee qualification and improvement programs.

Operational Excellence

• Collaborate with BU’s and other departments to align sourcing strategies


• Drive productivity, ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services, and implement best-in-class procurement practices.

Team and Stakeholder Management

• Build and lead a global team and collaborate with senior executives across the company.


• Ensure adherence to regulations, compliance topics, internal policies, and ethical standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; MBA preferred.


• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in global sourcing or supply chain, with significant experience in the semiconductor or smartcard industry.


• Experience managing global teams, supplier development, cost modeling, and negotiations.


• Inter-cultural skills


• Knowledge of industry regulations, contract law, and global logistics.


• Strong analytical, strategic, problem-solving, and communication skills


• Ability to travel internationally.

Language skills

• English, French or other European languages
