What - the Role:
The Controller is a key contributor to our client’s accounting leadership team and will assist the Head of Finance with the management of the overall financial operations.
In this role you will aid the Head of Finance in directing and managing the company's accounting functions, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures, preparing financial statements, and reporting to top management and external parties and contribute to the maintenance and change management of the company's accounting systems.
Additionally, you will work with the Head of Finance in the preparation of financial reports and other required reporting for the Board of Directors. Manages and directs the accounting department functions.Supervision and mentorship of the Corporate Accounting Managers, Inventory Accounting Manager and Accounts Payable Manager.Manages cash flow and investments.Assists with the management of foreign exchange transactions.Prepares and presents financial information for quarterly and annual reports.Establishes and maintains positive relationships with lending institutions and insurance companies.Liaises with external auditors and accountants regarding the annual audit.Responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements and external reporting to financial institutions, ensuring that all reporting requirements are met.Responsible for all other financial reporting to various companies and agencies (Insurance, Stats Can, OEM, etc.).Establishes and monitors internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal regulatory and company policies and procedures.Works closely with the Regional Accounting Managers to assist operational managers in analyzing financial data and recommends corrective action, when applicable.Provides strategic analysis as required to drive improved decision-making.Becomes familiar with and complies with the company’s Health & Safety Manual. Post-secondary degree in finance is essentialProfessional accounting designation requiredFive plus years related accounting management experience including experience supervising mid-level managers and/or senior accounting personnel in multi-disciplinesAbility to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing including the ability to interface with and present to senior and executive audiencesAdvanced skills with MS ExcelExcellent ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and legal documentsValid passport and driver’s license required for occasional business travelHow Much:
Competitive base salary in the range of $140-160K commensurate with experience and qualifications, discretionary bonus, RRSP match, paid vacation, and extended health.
