About the Opportunity Reporting to the Manager of Nutrition and FoodServices and under the supervision of the Food Service Supervisors, the Cook II independently, and within a team, prepares meals using standardized quantity recipes for patient foodservices, as well as for clientele of the cafeteria/catering/retail foodservices. The Cook II works collaboratively and is responsible for maintaining a high standard of food safety and sanitation in an institutional food service operation.
The Cook II will work cooperatively and effectively with all members of Nutrition & FoodServices and all key stakeholders, maintaining excellent communication.
They have the ability to perform a number of job duties with flexibility, an openness to change, and a focus on patient/client service and safety.
About You We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
Grade 12/GED or equivalent required Red seal cooking certificate or minimum of Block 1 of the NovaScotia Culinary Apprenticeship Program Successfully completed or equivalent Ability to demonstrate active and current participation in the Culinary Apprenticeship Program and a commitment towards Red Seal certificate One (1) year hospital food experience required Serv Safe Advanced course required Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred Please ensure your resume is up to date and includes all relevant education, experience, training, and certifications Hours Permanent-Part time, 40% FTE, 30 hours biweekly Shifts may include evenings, weekends and holidays Compensation and Incentives $21.72 - $24.68 Hourly Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
