Our client is looking for a DistributionEngineer to provide hands-on leadership, mentorship, guidance, and oversight to the Distribution Group.
The DistributionEngineer will be responsible to develop new designs by applying knowledge of electric utility systems and their operation.
As well as perform quality reviews of project deliverables and maintain client relationships.
They will deal directly with clients to establish service requirements and provide solid design solutions and alternatives that meet the client needs.
This position will report to the DistributionEngineering Manager Key Responsibilities:
Directing a wide range of design projects, within a team of distribution designers, including those with high complexity.
Providing leadership, prioritization, and direction for the Design team.
Opportunity to provide training, coaching, and mentorship to our teams.
Monitoring safety, workflow, team dynamics and work practices.
Developing and maintaining relationships with clients and customers.
Participating in the recruitment of junior staff including involvement within the interview process.
Providing input for evaluation of individual team members performance and recommend areas for development.
Providing coverage as required for other Discipline Leads, Senior Engineers, Engineers, and/or Designers Understand and apply all applicable industry and client standards for design and engineering.
Help develop and implement design improvement plans Help with project assignments to the design teams.
Qualifications:
Must have high voltage utility experience Preference will be given to candidates who have utility design experience or distribution line work Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in construction and field installations Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of 4 years of detail design experience in Distribution for Utilities within North America.
Fortis, ENMAX, & Other Canadian Utility Experience would be an asset Exposure to utility standards, CSA, and an understanding of powerline construction techniques The ability to lead and direct a team of engineers, designers, and drafters Strong computer design skills along with the ability to learn new software packages efficiently, and retain and apply on the job training Effective Interpersonal Skills Strong written and verbal skills are a must to ensure clear communication between team members, clients, contractors, and suppliers Customer service focused along with excellent time management and prioritization skills Exposure to non-linear powerline design software such as PLS-CADD Please send your cv to Amy Anderson at aanderson@klopprichards.com if you are interested in learning more about this opportunity.
