QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And ExperienceRegistration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant / College of Psychiatric Nurses of BritishColumbia (CPNBC).Recognized post-basic clinical education in psychiatric nursing, such as Certified Psychiatric Mental HealthNurse-Canada (CPMH(C)); or an equivalent combination of education and training.One year recent related experience administering ElectroconvulsiveTherapy(ECT) and/or RepetitiveTranscranialMagneticStimulation(rTMS) treatments.Two (2) years recent related experience working with the acute mentally ill in community or acute setting, and experience working with caregivers/families of the mentally ill, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Basic life support, Level C .Skills And AbilitiesApply the nursing process, teaching skills and knowledge specific to ECT and/or rTMS protocols and procedures.Monitor indications and contraindications for ECT and/or rTMS, and maintains awareness of ongoing research in ECT and/or rTMS efficacy.Demonstrate sound organizational, problem solving and teaching skills.Demonstrate good judgment, observation and client assessment.Demonstrate tact and empathy.Prioritize and organize client care needs.Operate / monitor all ECT and/or rTMS related equipment as well as office equipment such as a personal computer.Work as part of a multidisciplinary health care team.Assume in charge responsibilities.Foster good public relations.Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.Physically able to perform the duties of the position.Maintain a working knowledge of relevant legislation applicable to the care of the mentally ill, i.e.Mental Health Act, Adult Guardianship Act, ECT/rTMS Best Practice document and BC Guidelines for ECT/rTMS.
