Performs technical duties in the fields of instrumentation, automation, electronics, low voltage electricity or electro-mechanics.
Participates in projects to oversee the work performed by others.
Acts as a resource person, resolves problems, collaborates and instructs others.
Maintains documentation and records of the systems.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Repairs and maintains services when assigned with trouble tickets.Delivers complete installation of services through requests from the Work Order system or requests from project managers.
Assembles from plans, electrical circuits, electronic equipment and networks; installs all required cabling and performs connections.
Installs and connects equipment to the University network backbone or other systems with help from other network and communications services.
Prepares detailed work reports.Participates in projects to insure the proper delivery of services to the customers.
Discusses the orientation and technical demands of the projects.
Reviews, selects and modifies methodology.
Assumes the responsibility for the technical aspects these projects.
Oversees workmanship to ensure that the specifications are met.Draws plans, sketches, and writes technical documents dealing with electrical distribution and electronic control systems explaining how to install or improve systems.
Proceeds with execution as required.
Sets up high or low voltage inlets (VDC).
Devises and builds assemblies by interfacing electronic devices with mechanical components for control and measuring purposes.
Conducts required testing on laboratory equipment.Acts as resource person, resolves problems and instructs others.
Provides technical guidance and assistance concerning work methods, the use of equipment and techniques, and the analysis of results.
Ensures that proper use of equipment and safety procedures are followed.Works with multiple types of mediums such as copper, fiber optic, wireless, etc.Reports all anomalies of systems found to immediate supervisor.Prepares reports.
Discusses results with others.
Maintains records and files.
Maintains and updates programs after work is performed to make sure database consistency is accurate.Maintains equipment and performs repairs.
Arranges for servicing.
Does pick-up and delivery as required.Maintains inventory.
Recommends equipment and material.Keeps abreast of new developments to update skills and knowledge.Uses tools and equipment such as computers, audio-visual equipment, oscilloscopes, voltage regulators, probes, soldering equipment, volt meters, cable testers, test sets, fibre optic test sets, hand tools, drills and other power tools, ladders, stepladders or other necessary climbing equipment.The list of duties and responsibilities outlined above is representative and not a complete and detailed list of tasks which may be performed by an employee whose position has been matched to this generic job description.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
