Job Description Location:
Toronto, ONT Manager,MechanicalDesignEngineering We are currently looking for an experienced Manager,MechanicalDesignEngineering to play a pivotal role in delivering mechanicalengineering leadership for large scale, complex high temperature pyrolysis, renewable natural gas and hydrogen plants.
The position is an integral part of the team who works closely with all key stakeholders to ensure consistency in the implementation of our business projects, the prequalification documents as well as tendering.
You will provide consistency through all project life cycle where assignments involve 2D and 3D drafting.
Responsibilities:
Lead mechanicaldesign team and function including all aspects of product planning and road mapping, resource planning, and budgeting.
Manage team with functional responsibilities of designengineering, drafting and procurement.
Play a key role in engineering and project strategy, and budgeting.
Produce documentation, basis of designs, procurement specifications, etc., tailored to the specific stage of project completion, covering all aspects of mechanicalengineering.
Support the preparation of bids and estimates.
Ensure compliance with Industry Codes & Standards and Guidelines related to mechanical equipment.
Prepare datasheets, technical specification, technical bid evaluations for Engineering, Selection and Procurement assistance of Equipment & Packages like biomass handling equipment, Pumps, Kilns, Thermal Oxidizers, Gas Treatment Systems, Fans and Blower Follow up on technical scope of work of vendors & support process engineers in selecting type of equipment.
Understand fabrication process, critical element/ critical path and how its influence the delivery of equipment.
Witness Vendor FAT / shop testing, and review test reports and provide relevant comments.
Provide cost?saving options measures during project execution phase or during proposal, if requested, and if available Actively participate in the equipment / project HAZOP Understand the overall project scope of work to lead and guide the discipline production engineering team to meet project fabrication deliverables in line with the fabrication sequence/ schedule.
Co-ordinate and co-operate with company’s design office for all disciplines to ensure works & contracts progress in technical and commercial terms.
Provide remote support during construction and commissioning, then travel to site as needed to troubleshoot mechanical performance of installed equipment during or after startup.
Comfortable working within a multidiscipline environment and communicating with project stakeholders.
Requirements:
3+ years managing or supervising multi-function engineering team.
7+ years gas process equipment, piping, valves and instrumentation mechanicaldesign, specification and troubleshooting experience with increasing responsibility with a system integrator or EPC/EPCM.
Proven experience in the successful specification, procurement and troubleshooting of gas processing equipment for $10M+ projects.
Strong background working with Syngas, Hydrogen and RNG processing equipment is preferred, but transferrable experience will be considered.
Ability to identify alternatives and engage suppliers in technical discussions to determine the best equipment alternatives and options for each project.
Demonstrated ability to partner and communicate with cross functional internal/ external engineering and project management teams.
Strong business acumen and analytical skills, and the ability to apply business logic in decision - making and problem-solving.
Excellent oral and written communication skills Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanicalengineering and typically 5+ years of related work experience Proficiency in utilizing 2D/3D CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering.
Navisworks/Revit/BIM experience is an asset. HortorLimited TorontoOntario
