Our Markham office has an immediate opening for a MechanicalEngineer(Buildings) with Project Management experience to join our team to help us maintain our momentum.
The primary responsibility of this position is to be responsible for technical designs on multiple projects on a range of building systems for a range of commercial, multi-residential, institutional, government, and industrial clients.
This involves working with our project managers, design engineers, and customers to ensure overall project success from inception to completion.
Preference will be given to applicants with practical experience related to any of the following facilities:
Experience with multi-unit residential, commercial, retail, industrial, and institutional buildings.
Building sciences that include renovations to existing multi-unit residential, commercial, and institutional buildings.
HVAC (including hydronic systems) and Plumbing for existing and new builds.
Key Responsibilities:
Attending site meetings and liaising with clients/contractors; Preparing and drafting CAD drawings using AutoCAD; Organizing and maintaining a design and CAD digital file database for each project; Successfully carrying out design/project assignments as directed by the Lead MechanicalEngineer; Performing site investigations and field reviews; Review and application of knowledge of relevant building codes and standards; Preparing HVAC load calculations (using HAP) and equipment selections; Preparing technical reports and specifications.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Relevant degree or diploma with a minimum of five (5) years experience as a Mechanical Designer/Engineer in the fields of HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical building systems.
Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in good standing with PEO is mandatory.
A working knowledge of relevant current building construction design standards and codes including the National Building Code, National Fire Code, ASHRAE, along with relevant NFPA and CSA standards is essential.
Project management skills and strong attention to detail.
Ability to coordinate projects with J+B's multi-disciplinary consultant team.
Ability to organize, multi-task and prioritize tasks Strong time management and commitment to deadlines.
Possess excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
Strong computer proficiency with experience in AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Applications.
Experience with Revit is considered an asset.
Expertise in contract document production and construction detailing.
Must be familiar with occupational health and safety regulations on construction sites.
Comfortable on a job site and interacting with various construction trades.
Experience with contract administration; including site reviews and shop drawing reviews.
Candidate must be a team player and a self-starter.
