GMB has a varied, multidiscipline team of designengineers capable of providing custom, engineered solutions for its customers’ specific problems.
GMB has an immediate opening for a SeniorMechanicalDesignEngineer to join its dynamic and growing team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare detailed design calculations and analysis of mechanical equipment for the Steel Industry.
Prepare technical and other project specifications.
Coordinate mechanicaldesign work with that performed by other engineering disciplines.
Be capable, if the need arises, to coordinate the work and direct the work of a small group of mechanicaldesigners and draftspersons.
Prepare proposals, feasibility studies, reports, and preliminary designs.
Prepare detailed design calculations, conceptual layouts, and sketches.
Develop initial concepts into final designs, which would include preparing detail drawings, assemblies, bills of material, etc.
Investigate field problems, and prepare reports.
Provide on-site technical support during major machinery installations.
Provide support to the sales team when visiting customers.
Provide technical guidance to co-workers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
B.SC OR B.Eng.
in MechanicalEngineering.
P.Eng.
registration in the Province of Ontario is preferred but not mandatory 10 years combined experience in the design of Steel Mill and/or Steel Coil Processing equipment and/or heavy industrial machinery design (i.e.
mining) Knowledge of the design, fabrication, and installation of heavymechanical equipment.
Proficient in the use of 3D Cad design software (preferably Solid Works).
Strong computer-oriented skills (familiarity with MS Office, FEA Analysis, Math CAD, etc.) Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
Must demonstrate the ability to analyze problems, and provide solutions using sound judgment and decision-making skills.
Must be self-motivated, able to work independently as well as within a team setting.
Must hold a valid passport, as there will be occasional travel to the U.S.A., as well as within Canada.
