As a Senior IT Manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership and day to day management of our Operation Systems and teams at Purolator and by providing strategic long term recommendations to improve system performance and availability levels.
You will also be a champion in retiring old legacy systems and while improving business processes for the future.
The role will be leading multiple support teams and individuals and will provide support to all Purolator’s operational systems and technology.
This highly technical and hands-on position requires the incumbent to work with team and individuals, involved in all aspects of system trouble shooting, integration challenges and performance monitoring.
Responsibilities:
Managing each of the support teams and their day to day management of all operational applications and systems for performance, stability & security.
Leading the definition of short term solutions, custom solutions and influencing long term strategies in collaboration with the Operations and Customer teams; participate/lead transformation projects to help meet customer needs and improve customer satisfaction.
Leading business teams through the implementation of changes into the operations area and ensuring the applications comply with Purolator’s business rules.
Act as a champion for all changes and services introduced into the Operations area, ensuring a positive customer experience, while following the organizational change management framework.
This role will work directly with all levels within the organization from the leadership to the support teams, solving urgent problems or influencing long term strategies; and externally with customers or vendors across Canada and the United States.
Work in tandem with the Operations IT team and with other Purolator teams to help translate business objectives into system requirements and helping to define an enterprise-wide technology approach that encompasses multiple systems and various integration points Lead and manage a diverse team of developers and support resources that support current and future Operation’s systems to ensure successful day to day operation and future additions of new projects, enhancements and applications.
Manage support budget, systems updates and licensing renewals for the Operations systems.
Work closely with the Purolator DevOps and Security teams to ensure our applications and systems are compliant with Purolators security standards and best practices.
Qualifications 5+ years of Information Technology management with project experience an asset.
Strong proficiency in software and hardware changes and advancements Hands-on experience with support teams and managing a complex system with applications running near 24/7.
Technical project management, deployment, or implementation experience preferred Knowledge and experience with APIs, webhooks, and general data transfer approaches required Ability to effectively relate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and articulating the business value of a given technical solution or technical requirement for change Accountable for ensuring the integrity and availability of Purolator provided assets, information and data by contributing and enforcing Purolator’s security policies and procedures.
Establish best practices for identifying the underlying causes of incidents/problems minimizing adverse impact.
Provide visibility to identified problems and support with immediate resolution; plan and execute long term resolutions.
Functional knowledge of integration systems, with experience integrating enterprise software between various software solutions Experience in scoping, clarifying objectives, dealing with ambiguity/under-defined problems, advocating for simplification, and influencing teams Critical thinking, and complex problem solving ability required Excellent oral and written communication skills - ability to effectively communicate across internal and external business, marketing, and engineering departments Strong organizational, analytical skills and the ability to work at a highly-detailed level Knowledge of the agile software development process a plus Identify opportunities to improve service, procedures and tools utilized within the support teams.
Manage relationships with vendors that provide the end to end solution; ensure partner compliance with agreements, handling vendor performance through SLA management, monitoring and reporting University or College diploma in computer science, software engineer, software design or any computer application development specialty or associate's degree in computer science or related field, equivalent training and work experience in computer programming, computer science, computer engineering and candidates with extensive computer system backgrounds.
