Due to our growth, we are seeking a dedicated and innovative individual for our France office as a full-time Application Laboratory Specialist.


This role is vital in developing and testing Food & Beverage applications, expanding sales opportunities, and structuring the laboratory.


The position involves close collaboration with customers, R&D teams, and internal departments across Europe (Application, Sales, Marketing).

1. Application Development:
   
   
   
   
   
   • Design and develop new food applications based on customer briefs, market trends, and ingredient functionality.
   
   
   • Optimize formulations to meet specific customer needs, including flavor, texture, nutritional content, and shelf life.
   
   
   • Conduct product trials and demonstrations in the laboratory and at customer facilities.


2. Technical Support and Customer Collaboration:
   
   
   
   
   
   • Provide technical expertise on ingredient functionality and application possibilities.
   
   
   • Participate in customer meetings, workshops, and presentations.
   
   
   • Support formulation or process challenges for customer projects.


3. Laboratory Testing and Analysis:
   
   
   
   
   
   • Perform physical, chemical, and sensory analyses to ensure quality and performance.
   
   
   • Validate formulations for stability, process feasibility, and safety compliance.
   
   
   • Maintain detailed records for internal and external reporting.


4. Research and Innovation:
   
   
   
   
   
   • Stay updated on industry trends, new ingredients, and emerging technologies.
   
   
   • Contribute to innovation by identifying new application opportunities.
   
   
   • Collaborate with teams to incorporate sustainable practices.


5. Compliance and Documentation:
   
   
   
   
   
   • Ensure laboratory procedures align with group standards.
   
   
   • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations.


6. Management, Collaboration, and Training:
   
   
   
   
   
   • Manage the Laboratory and supervise the Application Technologist (one direct report).
   
   
   • Coordinate with global and local R&D teams on projects.
   
   
   • Train and mentor junior staff and interns.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or related field.


• 2–5 years’ experience in food applications, product development, or technical support.


• Management experience with direct reports.


• Familiarity with application labs and customer projects is highly valued.


• Proficient in food analysis techniques.


• Strong knowledge of European food regulations.


• Fluent in English and French (written and spoken).


• Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.


• Effective communication skills, especially customer-facing.


• Willingness to travel within France and Europe occasionally.
