Job Mission:
We are looking for a researchscientist/associate with a strong background in microbiology and genetic engineering.
This person with own and execute experimental campaigns for the genetic modification of our bacterial strains for bioproduction, working closely with our Chief Scientific Officer and the rest of our world-class technical team.
The work will involve end-to-end ownership of the microbial genetic engineering workflow:
from anaerobic cultivation of microbes, plasmid design and modification, identification of target genes, transformation protocol development and optimization and phenotypic validation of the impact of gene manipulation on microbial growth and function.
Short-term goals will include the generation of mutant libraries with the aim of optimizing strains for our novel bioproduction approach (geared towards a specific target chemical).
Mid-term to long-term goals will include contributing to a broad understanding of emergent metabolic behavior of our microbe during long-term operation in the bioprocess and identifying other targets for genetic manipulation via comprehensive -omics screening.
This exciting position is a great role for an early-stage researcher (fresh MS/PhD graduate) with prior hands-on research experience in the genetic manipulation of microbes but no prior industry experience.
It is a highly collaborative role and the candidate will be working with our multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers who are sprinting to develop and to deploy our novel bioprocess in customer sites by as early as spring 2025.
