The role of a Cloud Field Engineering Manager at CanonicalThe team of cloud solutions architects at Canonical works directly with customers to design private and public cloud solutions tailored to their workloads.
Technologies include on-premise solutions like OpenStack, MicroCloud, Ceph, and deployment options on-premises or in public clouds like Kubernetes, Kubeflow, Spark, PostgreSQL.
Managers oversee deployment, testing, and handover processes, and participate in presales to provide technical advice.
The manager is responsible for line management, career guidance, talent development, representing the team technically, and collaborating across departments and with customers.
Active participation in presales to meet quarterly goals is expected.
LocationThis role is home-based, managing a team within your time zone.
Daily responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing a team of engineers in presales and professional services
- Solving customer problems and acting as a trusted advisor

Qualifications
- Knowledge of cloud computing technologies (Kubernetes, OpenStack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph)
- Practical Linux and networking skills
- Experience in technical presales
- Proactive, collaborative, and communicative personality
- Excellent English skills
- Passion for developing people and leadership experience
- Organized with a track record of delivering results
- Strong academic background
- Willingness to travel up to 40%
Additional desirable skills
- Spanish or French language skills
