This is an opportunity to lead a field engineering team, helping customers implement Canonical's open source solutions across public clouds and data centers.


The role involves working with a broad spectrum of technologies including Ubuntu, virtualization, private cloud, Kubernetes, and open source solutions like MLops platforms and data platforms.


As Canonical expands into new industries such as telecom, finance, healthcare, and media, the team develops new open source solutions to meet these needs.

We believe Engineering Managers should be excellent engineers, capable of troubleshooting technical issues and engaging in presales discussions.


They contribute technically but focus more on guiding the team’s direction, focus, and delivery.


We also focus on developing soft skills and management capabilities in engineers interested in leadership roles.

The goal is to make open source more accessible, reliable, and secure.

The team of cloud solutions architects at Canonical works directly with customers to design private and public cloud solutions tailored to their workloads.


Technologies include on-premise solutions like OpenStack, MicroCloud, Ceph, and deployment options on-premises or in public clouds like Kubernetes, Kubeflow, Spark, PostgreSQL.


Managers oversee deployment, testing, and handover processes, and participate in presales to provide technical advice.

The manager is responsible for line management, career guidance, talent development, representing the team technically, and collaborating across departments and with customers.


Active participation in presales to meet quarterly goals is expected.

This role is home-based, managing a team within your time zone.
