The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the overall health, security, and performance of databases, including tasks like database design, implementation, maintenance, backup, recovery, and security, while also ensuring data integrity and user access control.

This position covers multiple database technologies such as Oracle, MS SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL, and other open databases.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide support for all Database Hosting SDAs.


• Design, install, configure, and support database infrastructure.


• Administer and support database systems including storage provisioning, VM provisioning, patching, and upgrading.


• Implement backups, standby databases, and monitoring.


• Assist in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of database automation tasks using Ansible or other automation tools.


• Support setup and architecture, including monitoring, alerting, and scripting/interfaces to Help Desk systems.


• Manage NAS/LUNs for relational databases and related systems.


• Coordinate with Vendor Database Support for problem resolution.


• Perform troubleshooting and performance tuning activities.


• Apply database patches, updates, and perform upgrades.


• Assist in disaster recovery planning and testing.


• Perform capacity management and reporting.


• Produce documentation as needed.


• Support activities during planned maintenance outside of normal hours.

Junior Database Administrator:

• Participate in testing and validation activities.


• Support backup, replication, restoration, and performance tuning.


• Provide first-level user support and troubleshooting.


• Develop expertise in database technologies.


• Assist in automating routine DBA tasks.

Database Administrator:

• Perform disaster recovery and validation tests.


• Ensure database availability and security.


• Implement backup and replication strategies.


• Perform performance tuning.


• Coordinate patches and upgrades.


• Maintain automation routines.


• Guide junior team members.

Senior Database Administrator:

• Lead initiatives to improve database services.


• Design and enforce security policies.


• Implement backup, replication, and restoration solutions.


• Plan and execute database implementations and upgrades.


• Coordinate activities with team members.


• Provide guidance and mentorship.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Extensive database administration experience, including upgrades and patching.


• Knowledge of cloud services like OCI, AWS, Azure, GCP.


• Experience with cloud database products such as Oracle Cloud, Azure SQL, AWS RDS.


• Support experience with products like Oracle DataGuard, RMAN, SQL Server Always On, Failover Clustering, and others listed.


• Scripting skills in Linux shell, PowerShell, Transact-SQL, etc.


• Experience with automation tools like Ansible.


• Familiarity with data storage virtualization, networking on Exadata, and Linux administration.
