Know Your Customer (KYC), refers to the regulatory compliance mandate imposed on financial service providers to implement a Customer Identification Program and perform due diligence checks before doing business with a person or entity.

KYC fulfils a risk mitigation function and involves the gathering and recording of information about a client from the point at which we accept them as a client, through to the maintenance and retention of that client information throughout the lifetime of the business relationship.

There is a legal requirement to ensure our client data is reasonably kept up to date.

Standard Bank has chosen to review their clients based on the Risk Framework.

Duties:

Establish a high-quality culture and set operating standards for team to follow.

Maintain management oversight KYC Operations functions for all aspects of KYC.

Ensure that the Client Experience in relation to activities conducted is exemplary whilst not compromising policy and regulatory/legal directives.

Provide Oversight to the Review Process and ensure that the CIB Compliance Framework is correctly applied and adhered to.

Ensure strategic and tactical projects are fully supported.

Ensure that all Clients are accurately taken on into GoldTier.

Manage complex budgets and strenuous financial requirements.

Assist and guide the business to obtain information and documentation required to meet regulatory obligations.

Ensure correct classification of clients in accordance with Group KYC compliance policies.

Dealing with enquiries from the business relating to all aspects of client KYC approval.

Understand the current KYC document remediation exercise and take ownership when moving from Project phase to completion in production.

Implement measures to ensure all files are current, complete and are in adherence with the Group policy and regulatory requirements.

Liaise with Compliance and Legal departments where decisions need to be taken Extensive knowledge of Goldtier system functionality.

Facilitating compliance with KYC regulations for a client base that includes domestic and international clients.

Interact with relationship teams across business units when periodic reviews are initiated.

Build a team of resources capable of going out to a client to take them through the review process and obtain the relevant documentation.

Risk Ensure high risk factors or incidents are understood, accurately identified, escalated, reported and addressed within an appropriate time frame.

Manage the KRI and ensure timeous escalation where necessary to address any issues.

Ensure KYC remains in the green zone for KRI's.

Ensure procedural and compliance training is done when required.

Conduct periodic, risk-based process validations in KYC database.

Ensure Business Resilience.

Proactively promote best practise for internal consumers of KYC and ensure adoption of common operating model.

People Management Oversee and lead the team on a daily basis Ensure that succession planning is in place.

Foster and develop leadership capabilities within the team and work towards identifying potential successor(s) Develop and up skill subordinates, providing coaching, mentorship and guidance where required.
