In the context of the INCLUDE research project led by UCBL and awarded the DemoES Call for Expressions of Interest, particularly action 4 Supporting and training higher education actors in transforming their inclusive pedagogical practices, led by Christelle Lison (Professor at the University of Sherbrooke) and Stéphanie Mazza (Professor at CRNL, UMR 5296, University Lyon 1), a postdoctoral position in cognitive neuropsychology of learning is available (immediate start).
The postdoctoral researcher will work under the supervision of Alice Gomez (Lecturer-Researcher, HDR in Cognitive Sciences, CRNL, EDUWELL team, UMR 5296, University Lyon 1) and Amandine Rey (Lecturer-Researcher in Cognitive Sciences, CRNL, FORGETTING team, UMR 5296, University Lyon 1).
The recruited individual will be responsible for developing and evaluating the impact of immersive virtual reality scenarios on understanding students' cognitive needs and modifying teaching practices at the university.
The scenarios and experiments will serve as a demonstrator for wider dissemination to raise awareness among university staff about obstacles to student inclusion.
The contract will be based at the Lyon Neuroscience Research Center (CRNL).
Proposed working conditions:
- Full-time position for 24 months.
- Office and dedicated computer at CRNL.
- Access to the Neuroimmersion platform for developing VR scenarios.
- Salary according to public service pay scales, based on qualifications and experience.
The responsibilities include:
- Constructing four immersive VR scenarios addressing cognitive learning difficulties (working memory overload, reading disorders, sensorimotor issues, learned helplessness) and accessibility situations.
- Designing the experimental study, including ethical committee approval and GDPR compliance, to assess the impact of immersive VR on teachers' empathy, understanding of learning mechanisms, and inclusive teaching practices.
- Managing experiments, data collection (questionnaires on empathy and knowledge, ecological practice resources, in-situ observations), data analysis, and scientific publication writing.
- Possessing excellent knowledge of cognitive and learning mechanisms.
- Having sensitivity or experience with immersion methodologies in virtual reality.
- Mastering statistical analyses (e.g.,
linear mixed models) and programming skills for data automation.
- Skills in tools such as questionnaires, evaluation tests, and classroom practice observations in natural settings.
- Fluent scientific English.
- Strong synthesis and analytical skills.
- Good teamwork abilities.
