As a Tax Manager, it will be your responsibility to manage the end-to-end tax reporting and tax compliance processes, as well as provide support to the Head of Tax on tax queries and tax audits from external tax authorities.


You will support the development and maintenance of a robust tax risk control environment and provide ad hoc tax advice to Barclays businesses and functions.


Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with Tax and Finance teams across offices and geographies is essential.

The scope of tax coverage includes corporation tax, transfer pricing, value-added tax, withholding taxes, etc.

The ideal candidate will have tax experience with a CTA qualification and be fluent in both English and French.


Exposure to various tax areas such as corporation tax, transfer pricing, and VAT is desirable.

You may be assessed on key skills relevant for success, including risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.

This role is a Controlled Function role under the Central Bank of Ireland Fitness and Probity Regulations and may require the holder to meet specific regulatory qualifications.

6 Month Fixed Term Contract

Purpose of the role

To provide expert tax advice and guidance to the bank, including analysis of complex tax issues, advising on tax risk management, and managing relationships with tax authorities and stakeholders.

Accountabilities


  1. Provision of tax planning and advisory services in accordance with Barclays' principles.

  2. Management of tax risks from the bank's activities, investments, and transactions, and development of strategies to mitigate potential liabilities.

  3. Analysis of complex tax issues to support planning, compliance, and risk management.

  4. Assessment of tax implications of strategic transactions and development of tax-efficient structures.

  5. Liaising with tax authorities and resolving legacy tax issues.

  6. Identification and mitigation of potential tax risks related to complex transactions.

  7. Stakeholder management to ensure understanding and management of tax requirements and risks.

  8. Monitoring developments in tax law to assess impact on Barclays.

  9. Analysis of business and product changes from a tax risk perspective, including input into firm-wide processes.
