They have a vacancy for Buyer JOB BRIEF Buyers in the construction industry procure all the materials required for building projects and ensure they are provided on time and within allocated budgets.
They play a vital role, as they ensure the profitability of business contracts, by purchasing the most cost-effective and appropriate materials for each job.
RESPONSIBILITIES Key Responsibilities Obtain quotations and prices for the Estimating Team.
Negotiate prices with suppliers to ensure tender allowance is met or bettered.
Place purchase orders ensuring specifications and delivery dates are achieved.
Organize and schedule materials to cover deliveries and collections Provide feedback to the Estimating Team re:
lead-time times and minimum requirements, supplier performance.
Liaise with Operational Staff to ensure the correct and required quantity of material has been received.
Liaise with Management re:
purchasing of plant and equipment.
Carry out general administrative tasks:
Filing, emailing, answering the telephone.
Work in accordance with the Companys Quality Management System.
Provide monthly yard costs / reports to accounts.
Sign and authorize invoices.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE / SKILLS 4 GCSEs minimum, including Maths and English 2 Years Experience in a Construction Buying Role Must be outgoing, confident and have strong people skills both on the telephone and face to face.
Be organized, methodical and have a good attention to detail.
Have good computer and data entry skills Be able to understand specification and product data information.
Be able to work under pressure and multitask in a busy office.
