This position supports the delivery of robust and effective continuous manufacturing processes for Active Pharmaceuticals Ingredients (APIs) and their intermediates, through the application of new technologies and chemical engineering fundamentals.

Responsibilities Applies chemical engineering knowledge and experimental skills to the design and development of robust continuous processes for intermediate and API manufacture at pilot plant and commercial scale, partnering with Process Chemists, Analytical Chemists and API
- Manufacturing.

Partners with scientific staff across Pfizer R&D and manufacturing organisations to assess and apply existing continuous API platforms to enable development and transfer of safe and robust processes.

Uses chemical engineering fundamentals and modelling approaches to effectively evaluate and develop API manufacturing processes using continuous technologies.

Working in an automated laboratory design and execute experiments and process modelling studies to explore and define the design space of a chemical process.

Present their work clearly and concisely to stakeholders, both internally and externally, through written and verbal communications.

May contribute to regulatory submission authoring as well as technology transfer documentation to research and commercial manufacturing sites.

Prototype new continuous API platforms in the laboratory and enable for clinical and commercial manufacturing, if identified during commercial route selection.

Propose and investigate new manufacturing technologies that may offer benefits over existing approaches used within Pfizer.

Education A minimum of degree level in Chemical or Biochemical engineering with proven relevant experience or a PhD in Chemical or Biochemical engineering with a relevant laboratory based project.

An A-level in Chemistry is preferred.

Technical Skills Requirements Excellent knowledge of chemical engineering fundamentals including reaction kinetics, reactor design, chemical thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, engineering statistics, modelling and simulation.

A sound understanding of continuous processing theory and technologies.

Working knowledge of reaction modelling, property prediction and simulation computational tools, i.e.

Dynochem, Aspen, Visimix, gproms is an advantage.

Familiarity with common analytical chemistry techniques i.e.
