Main Responsibilities As the Teacher of Geography at The Levels School, you will be working under the direction of the Lead for English and Humanities, and alongside the SENCo in heading up the delivery of the Geography curriculum at key stage 3 and key stage 4/GCSE.
You will be teaching to students with SpLD broadly in line with those experienced by dyslexia and co-occurring difficulties.
You will need to be a qualified Teacher with experience in SEND including knowledge of the National Curriculum and the teaching of Key Stages 3 and 4.
The successful candidate will need to be motivated and enthusiastic with strong pedagogical skills.
You will be joining a committed and dedicated team that has high expectations for students and work hard to ensure they achieve their maximum outcomes.
A passion for your subject and working with pupils and assisting them on their journey, which almost certainly will have included difficulties in accessing some areas of the curriculum as it is taught in the mainstream environment.
The ability to offer a second subject and/or any additional areas that enhance the curriculum provision at the school would be considered an advantage.Enthusiasm is as important as experience, as you will need to inspire as well as teach.
You will be required to identify clear teaching objectives to specify how each young person will be taught and assessed; you will manage the teaching and learning through initiating and rolling out aims and objectives for Geography to ensure the pupils are on track to achieve their maximum potential.
You will be able to demonstrate a range of multi-sensory teaching techniques and be prepared to go above and beyond for the young people we support.
It is important that you are ambitious for our students and have desire to problem solve and work as a cog in a small team to unpick the nature of their SpLD so that strategies can be put in place to allow each pupil to achieve their maximum potential.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates from mainstream or specialist education.
Most students will follow a GCSE curriculum with a minority potentially accessing at certificate level.
The role of Teacher of Geography is offered on a full time, permanent basis, although part time hours will be considered for the right candidate.
We are looking to appoint a flexible, adaptable and dedicated individual with experience in working with students with SpLD and some SEMH difficulties as a result of their barriers to learning.
Following an induction and training programme, your duties will include:
Facilitate and encourage learning which enables students to achieve Preparing, planning and assessing teaching sessions whilst maintaining an awareness of curriculum developments Making assessments of educational attainment, setting challenging yet achievable targets Build relationships with all young people, which will encourage their interest and participation in their education Creating an environment which is stimulating and purposeful for all students to promote teaching and learning using a variety of multisensory teaching techniques Be aware of the individual needs of each student and work towards providing as near to a bespoke 1:
