Job purpose We are looking for someone passionate about usercentreddesign, inspirational, eternally optimistic and loves a challenge.
This role will offer you the opportunity to work as part of an exciting new Product function, designed to challenge how the City of Birminghamdesigns services for residents, and be innovative and creative in our approach for designing the right internet age technology to support our citizens and colleagues.
You will be responsible for helping the product function to mature by creating our new designpractice, setting standards and sharing our approaches far and wide in the organisation and beyond.
You will be supporting our brilliant creative team to be bold in working with Birmingham's services to challenge the status quo and push the boundaries of what's possible in local government.
You'll be influencing stakeholders all over the organisation to take a user-centred approach, so being dynamic, influential and tenacious by nature and drawing on a creative skillset of approaches will help you in this role.

Great track record of using usercentred service design approaches to solve complex problems in large scale services Ability to lead a new team, embedding new ways of working and capabilities across the department and wider organisation Ability to influence senior stakeholders to encourage them to adopt agile, user-centred service design approaches to solving problems Great communicator, ability to work openly and transparently and demonstrate the new behaviours and values that embody a user-centric culture Strategic thinker, able to join our dynamic leadership team and help drive the implementation of our digital strategy Please check out the person specification for more information.
Recruitment process An initial interview will take place for this role using Microsoft Teams on 11th or 12th April 2023, followed by an in-person half-day event on 18th April 2023, where you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your skills and experience and meet the team.
