IT Support Engineer - Hybrid role must be able to commute to Liverpool 3 days a week.
My client, a global, privately owned company is looking to expand its IT support team by taking on 2 IT Support Engineers.

The role - IT Support, 2nd and 3rd line support experience required.
As an IT Support Engineer you will be supporting a range of applications in a multi-domain global enterprise structure from within a Citrix Environment hosted on VMWare.
You will be responsible for the implementations and 3rd line support of a variety of on-premise infrastructure across the group.
Role responsibilities for the IT Support Engineer include; Work with the other IT Support team members and the Head of Infrastructure to help implement and maintain the group's infrastructure across the group.
Act as a technical escalation point for the technologies to resolve issues swiftly, and find root cause to better improve the service(s) offered by the department.
Have a proven track record in supporting large production environments spanning geographic locations across a number of systems and internet connections.
Understand and work towards a strategy set out by senior management ensuring we adhere to direction and execute tasks based on priority to meet strategy deadlines.
Be an escalation point for production threatening incidents, priority one or major issues and must have a proven track record in dealing with 3rd line support along with working closely or dealing with partners and 3rd party vendors Be flexible when it comes to out of hours support during evenings and weekends which would require expertise beyond the duty service team where necessary.
Have a good understanding of the need to be proactive by way of performance monitoring, tuning and pre-empting service improvements before they become an issue.
To undertake other duties of an appropriate nature in consultation with the Line Manager.
Providing the IT Helpdesk with information about incidents and problems to assist with the identification and tracking of common and recurring issues Ensure adherence to all IT policies, architectural standards and guidelines, operational processes and procedures including relevant build and security standards Experience needed for the InfrastructureEngineer role includes; Ideally, 3-4 years total experience in IT support with strong 2nd and 3rd line support experience.
Good understanding of VMware.
Experience of working with infrastructure in a complex environment implementing and maintaining Server Hardware, Visualisation Platforms, Storage Systems, Backups and other business critical applications.
Working knowledge of CITRIX, VMWare, Microsoft, and Linux stacks.
Working knowledge of Storage Area Network (SAN), Cisco-based network technology, high availability and disaster recovery environments, voice and video communication and related technologies IP addressing, subnet and DNS and their use in large complex environments.
Create and Maintain Standards and Best Practices for Infrastructure Equipment Exposure to ITIL concepts and adoption.
Experience with regulatory compliance issues, as well best practices in application and network Security.

ESXi 6+ XenApp/Desktop 7.5+ General knowledge of networking (Switches, Routing, VLANs, WLAN, Wireless, Proxies) Experience with running and maintaining scripting using PowerShell, Puppet, Chef, etc.
Understanding of Google Apps for Work and Google Hosted Services.
This role would suit an already experienced 2nd/3rd Line Support Engineer who is keen to move up to a more rounded infrastructure support role.
