This role sits within the hardware design team, which is part of Sky's Product Delivery group.
Sky is unique in that we design and manufacture our own hardware that customers know and love, such as Sky Glass, Sky Q and Broadband Hub's.
As a PrincipalEngineer, you will play a key role in supporting the Joint Development Manufacturing projects from concept to validation for Sky's next generation consumer products that go into millions of homes.
You will be accountable for the technical hardware documentation and compliance documentation, from product concept through to mass production.
What you'll do Take the lead on Joint Development Manufacturing (JDM) projects for the business.
Write, update and control compliance requirements documentation for the project in alignment with the JDM partners and internal compliance team.
Conduct reviews of proposed hardware designs and partners against Sky compliance requirements.
Support project technical lead in working with external test labs for the duration of a project to organise and conduct testing.
Review test lab reports against internal requirements and ensure regulations are met for the product.
Work with external test labs to do gap analysis for Global Market Access(GMA) for projects going into new markets.
Own all compliance aspects in the project, from identifying the correct standards to be tested, to supporting the hardware engineers to ensure these are met.
Communicate effectively with JDM partners and the project management team to report on progress.
Travel to support compliance testing of products when required.
What you'll bring Experience in a lead compliance role, taking a consumer product through full compliance process.
Experience with working with WiFi, BT and other IOT RF technologies, and there associated regulations.
Extensive experience of product compliance testing to EU regulations, specifically looking at EMC, Radio and Safety for CE & UKCA marking for consumer products.
Experience in working with other markets, such as FCC, RCM etc.
Experience in conducting gap analysis on products going through GMA.
Have some hardware knowledge and background in consumer electronics.
Excellent written skills, attention to detail and process driven.
A positive can-do attitude whilst working in a fast-paced, energetic team.
