Responsibilities:
As ProjectRegistrar(CollectionsReview) with NationalMuseumsScotland you will work with an extraordinary collection and team to:
Effectively coordinate a programme of collections review and, where appropriate disposal of collection and non-collection material in line with the Museum’s procedures.
Apply professional knowledge and judgement to the viability of collections review and disposal projects, liaising with and advising internal and external stakeholders as required.
Deliver and develop effective, up to date, procedures, processes and training for collections review and disposals.
Requirements:
· Proven relevant work experience managing similar collections management programmes with highly significant and valuable collections in a museum of similar environment.
· Knowledge of best practice standards for collection loans, acquisitions, and disposals (contractual, transport, packing, insurance/indemnity, display, internal and external communications and relationship management).
· Strong logistical and Project Management skills to assist with the management of material confirmed for disposal including transfer to external parties appropriate.
· Proficient and accurate at data inputting and use of databases.
· A degree in a relevant subject, plus a postgraduate qualification in museum studies or equivalent professional experience.
