The main purpose of the ResearchComputingEngineer is to maintain, upgrade and manage our current HPC service.
This will require hands on engineering with ability to plan and conduct work on our HPC offering.
You will be working closely with stakeholders within R&D and troubleshoot and solve problem as well as ensuring there is a clear understanding of upgrade paths required to keep the service fit for purpose.
This includes aiding scientists with their code/scripts to ensure they can run on the service.
Key accountabilities:

Delivery of day-to-day support for HPC service collaborating closely with scientific staff.
This will include compilation, optimisation of codes and the development of scripts for job control.
Work within ticketing system to prioritise and deliver user support.
Aid in the production of service dashboards.
Help in the production of documentation and SOPs.
Maintain an awareness of current and future developments in HPC esp.
cloud HPC as new instances become available and implement as appropriate Requirements for the role:
Knowledge of Linux operating systems and sys admin Knowledge of cluster concepts and parallel computing environment Knowledge of parallel file system concepts, ideally experience of cloud (Azure) computing The ability to work well in a team and with scientific specialists Application monitoring and dashboarding How you will be rewarded:
