We are currently looking for a dynamic and dedicated Senior Pre-AssessmentNurse to help run the service ensuring safe and effective pre-operative care.
The post holder is responsible for ensuring the safe assessment of patients in line with Hospital and National guidelines.
You will be able to demonstrate an advanced level of assessment skills with analysis of clinical findings to determine fitness to proceed to surgery.
The successful candidate will work using Lifebox pre-assessment software to ensure accurate health records are kept at all times - patient health records must be kept up to date at all times in line with Hospital policies.
This is a day’s only post, with a shift pattern that covers Monday to Friday between 8am and 8pm.

*What would be my responsibilities be my responsibilities as Senior Pre-AssessmentNurse:
* · Working autonomously, completing Pre-Assessment for a caseload of patients, undertaking a targeted history with assessment of past medical, operative and anaesthetic history · Completes testing as per NICE guidelines, interprets and manages the results, and where appropriate initiates relevant referrals to appropriate staff · Completes venepuncture, ECG, lung function testing and requesting of x-ray as per policy.
· Identifies patients with specific health issues and undertakes relevant risk scoring · Demonstrates appropriate review of previous anaesthetic documentation · Follow up on outcomes of referrals to ensure fitness to proceed · Provides information about any specific pre-operative instructions, intraoperative care and discharge · Identifies cultural requirements, communication or other specialist health or social needs · Liaise with the anaesthetist and surgeon to determine fitness to proceed · Following assessment, seeks advice where necessary, to ensure the appropriate level of post-operative care can be determined · Communicates any special requirements and essential resources to the MDT team · Provides verbal and written information regarding the anticipated post-operative recovery, and commences discharge planning and assesses the home support available to the patient post-discharge, and identifies any special requirements to facilitate prompt discharge · Liaise with General Practitioners and other Health Professional involved in the patient’s care to arrange treatment plans for patients in preparation for surgery · Provides support and advice for patients, carers, family and staff · To be proactive in efforts to improve pre-assessment service by escalating ideas and queries to relevant staff · To be efficient in time management to manage all patients through the process · Maintains a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
