Description Position Overview:
The Wireline Purchasing and Inventory Management team is critical to the success of TELUS through the timely and cost-effective availability of materials and equipment for infrastructure and WAN projects – right time, right place, and right cost.
If you have a deep passion for technology and an ability to integrate your knowledge and experience into the Supply Operations processes then this is the job for you.
You will stay close to the Technology Strategy standards teams to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of new technologies, strategies and lifecycle roadmaps.
You will then use this information to manage the materialsescalation process.
What YOU will do:
Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of all technology platform roadmaps and lifecycles, and provide guidance to the Inventory Planning team on new technology requirements and retiring technologies Develop and maintain close working relationships with the key technology standards teams as a trusted advisor such that you are an active part of new technology roadmap development Manage the materialsescalation process, including process improvement and automation.
Work closely with the Supply Operations team and stakeholders to understand materials needs.
Proactively identify materials substitutions and drive efficient use of materials Develop material consolidation strategies and implement SKU reduction plans in conjunction with key stakeholder teams Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers to support material standardization, technology lifecycle roadmaps and material substitution alternatives Apply robust change management techniques across all activities to ensure long-lasting success Qualifications What YOU will bring:
7+ years of relevant telecom technical experience Proven ability to work across multiple stakeholder teams and deliver outstanding results Experience in influencing acceptable outcomes through effective collaboration and communication Experience developing technical analysis, problem-solving, alternative option development, decision making and recommendations Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience delivering presentations to senior leaders and securing favourable decisions Detailed understanding of key technology platforms including GPON, IP, Optical, Transport, Access, WAN, IDC, WiFi, 4G/5G Wireless and Smallcells Hands-on experience standardizing, installing, testing and decommissioning telecom-related technologies Required Professional Designation/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Computer Science preferred, or a technical/telecom diploma with relevant field experience MBA or PMP would be an asset Supply chain certification such as SCMA or APICS would be an asset Process improvement certification such as LSS would also be an asset TELUS BurnabyBritishColumbia
