Position Overview
The Groups, Conference and Events Sales Manager (GC&E Manager) is responsible for driving Groups & MICE sales and delivering a client-focused service that results in achieving business revenue objectives.
This includes providing a well-organized booking service, proactive sales initiatives, developing customer relationships, and offering personalized event management services.
The GC&E Manager also manages daily Event Planning operations to meet or exceed budget expectations, monitors wages and expenses, and ensures accuracy of financial reports.
They will support the GM & SM in energizing the team with sales initiatives and maintaining high standards across various aspects of sales and events, including proposal quality, data tracking, and financial management.
Providing excellent customer service throughout all event phases is essential, requiring strong selling, negotiation, and organizational skills, along with effective communication with hotel departments and clients to maximize revenue and foster repeat business.
Main responsibilities
- Oversees the Event Planning function and staff to ensure successful hotel events.
- Develops flexible sales strategies aligned with hotel budgets and market conditions.
- Ensures products and services meet or exceed guest expectations, building customer loyalty.
- Proactively approaches sales, customizing solutions to client needs.
- Maintains and updates online meeting partner websites with photos, descriptions, and promotions.
- Conducts competitor analysis regularly, including promotions, pricing, and availability.
- Manages inquiries, turn-downs, and lost business to build future pipeline.
- Monitors wages and expenses, adjusting as needed, and ensures accurate financial reporting.
- Performs local market research and maintains follow-up with the team.
- Builds relationships with local clients, agencies, and direct bookers to generate repeat business.
- Prepares customized proposals that meet brand standards.
- Hosts client FAM trips and show rounds.
- Coordinates with the head office MICE sales team for timely responses to inquiries and RFPs.
- Manages BOB against targets, identifying periods for sales activities.
- Sets and reviews team objectives.
- Supervises billing, payment guarantees, and credit policies.
Qualifications
Relevant sales experience, excellent communication skills, responsibility, reliability, and strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities are required.
